LeQuint Allen Jr. (born August 5, 2004) is an American football running back for the Syracuse Orange.
Early life and high school
[edit]Raised in Millville, New Jersey, Allen attended high school at Millville. In Allen's junior season, he rushed for 670 yards and ten touchdowns while also talking 33 receptions for 284 yards. On defense, Allen had 84 tackles, six sacks, and three interceptions.[1] In week four of his senior season, Allen had a career performance totaling six touchdowns.[2] Coming out of high school, Allen was rated as a three star recruit where he decided to commit to play college football for the Syracuse Orange.[3][4]
College career
[edit]Allen got his first career start in the 2022 Pinstripe Bowl where he rushed for 94 yards, and hauled in 11 receptions for 60 yards.[5] Allen finished his freshman season rushing for 274 yards and a touchdown on 41 carries while also hauling in 17 receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown.[6] On December 9, 2022, Allen got into a fight on the schools campus after coming to the aid of former teammate Duce Chestnut; after the fight, Allen was charged with third degree assault.[7][8] As a result of the fight and charges, Allen was suspended by Syracuse for the entirety of the 2023 season.[9][10] On June 28, 2023, Allen decided to sue the University to try and overturn his suspension.[11][12] A few week later, on July 12, Allen and the Syracuse University reached an agreement that allowed Allen to rejoin the football team August 15 and return to classes for the fall semester.[13][14]
In week one of the 2023 season, Allen rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown in a win over Wofford.[15] During the 2023 season, Allen rushed for 1,064 yards and nine touchdowns on 245 carries, while also notching 38 receptions for 210 yards and a touchdown.[16] For his performance on the 2023 season, Allen was named second team all-ACC.[17]
Personal life
[edit]On February 14, 2023, Allen's father LeQuint Allen Sr was killed in a shooting by Thomas Baker after the two got in an argument.[18][19]
